We are happy to announce that we are providing weaving demonstrations (when the teardrop banner is flying at the roadside or upon special request) in the garage, behind the house, at No 9 Scarista, Isle of Harris HS3 3HX. As well as spinning Merino wool on Margaret’s great grandmother’s spinning wheel.
We now have a warping board and bobbin board and the principle can be explained but not always the action unless the beam requires to be refilled.
We also have a second Hattersley Mark 1 loom which we intend offering training on to budding weavers and items that are on display will all be available for sale. As the Harris Tweed guide map to weavers loom sheds in the Outer Hebrides states, the Loomshed will be open to visitors when the banner flies at the front gate of 9 Scarista, you can also email us at info@borvemorloomshed.com
