Borvemor is situated on the beautiful West Coast of Harris, and overlooks the Island of Taransay. If you see the house in the photo above on the landward side of the A859 when travelling from Tarbert, 14 miles, you will have gone 100m too far for Borvemor cottages and if you see it when travelling from Leverbugh, 6 miles, you are nearly at Borvemor cottages on the seaward side of the A859.
There are 2 roads to the cottages a short distance apart leading from the main road. Coming from the North the first steel gate on the right has a large blue sign on it and just to the left directions on a yellow board to Blackhouse and Beach Studio. The next road you come to 30 metres South has a yellow sign for Stable and Byre Cottages. Please use these roads for entering and exiting depending on which cottage you are staying in. The town of Stornoway is 50 miles to the North, and it is a a similar distance to the Callanish Stones turning left 10 miles South of Stornoway. Both routes give a spectacular drive through the north Harris hills and across the Harris-Lewis border at beautiful Loch Seaforth
To the south-west, the mountain of Chaipaval rises to 365 metres while to the north the huge expanse of sand of Luskentyre beach leads the eye to the rocky mountains of North Harris, the highest point being Clisham at 799 metres.
